Everest Base Camp

Overview And Highlights

Want to experience something which is beyond the ordinary and gives you an adrenaline pump like nothing else? Everest Base Camp Trek is the right answer for you. Perhaps the most amazing treks in the country, Everest Base Camp Trek offers a breathtaking landscape along with the closest possible view of ice giants including Everest. Adding to the splendor are the magnificent high valleys, streams, high passes, magnificent alpine forest, and exotic Sherpa village that dose the entire region.

Everest Base Camp 16 days Trek, you will witness the gigantic mountains (four of the six highest peaks), walk through UNESCO-protected Sagarmatha National Park, and get acquainted with the local culture and lifestyle. You will follow the footstep of legendary Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and get to the first base camp at the foot of Mt. Everest. Nothing beats the adventure that the hikers experience by witnessing the beauty of mountains up close.

16 Days Everest Base Camp Trek is designed to minimize the AMS risk by limiting the daily altitude gain. Two rest days are scheduled to insure proper acclimatization: the first one at Namche Bazaar and another at Dingboche. This trek is perfect for any adventure lover who is in good health with moderate fitness.

Everest Base Camp Trek: Difficulty

With more than 40,000 travelers a year, Everest Base Camp Trek is the most popular trek in Nepal. The name itself illustrates the vision of daunting peaks and straggling heights.
With no transportation access, the only way to enjoy the mountains is via foot through Khumbu valley from Lukla (unless you go for a helicopter ride). It is important to know that Everest Base Camp Trek requires no technical skills or climbing experience. Whether you are old or young, overweight or underweight, you can enjoy the trek.
Having said that, there are some important things to consider before starting the trip to Everest Base Camp.

Height

The most difficult aspect of the Everest Trek is its straggling altitude. The walk starts at Lukla 2680m which is high enough for altitude sickness. You will then climb via a rugged mountain trail to Base Camp at 5,364m. Kalapatthar at 5,545m is the highest point of the trek. You will walk 6 – 7 hours and gain 300 – 400m a day, which is quite a difficult task. So acclimatize your body properly and never start unless your body is fully prepared for the next day’s adventure.

Length

EBC trek starts from Lukla and follows 65 km approx. mountain trail to Everest Base Camp; which is 130km on a round trip. Get your body prepared to cope with the length and difficulty that the mountain brings to you.
On 16 days Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary, you will be walking for 12 days covering about 15km distance per day.

Physical Condition and Experience

16 Days Everest Base Camp Trek is suitable for anyone who has the ability to walk for 6 – 7 hours a day with a light rucksack. Notify early – if you have any pre-existing medical conditions like Asthma, heart and lung problems,s or blood diseases.
Prepare yourself for the trek by physical training and exercising at least a month prior to the commencement of the journey. Past hiking experience would be an asset but not mandatory.

Best Season for Everest Base Camp Trek

Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September – November) are the best time of the year for Everest Base Camp Trek. The temperature during these seasons is moderate and the views are incredible.
